Internet Connection
Wizard |
- This is the first screen of
the Windows 98 Internet Connection Wizard. To get to this screen:
- Ask the customer to click
on the Start button, then select Programs, and from
the Internet Explorer group, Connection Wizard

- On this screen you select
whether you wish to create a new Internet account or configure an
existing account. Select the second option to Configure the PC
for an existing ISP account.Then click on Next.

- On this screen, you select
whether you are using a normal ISP/OSP or one that uses proprietary
protocols such as AOL.Select the first option as shown. Then click
on Next.

- On this screen you select
your method of connection - either dial-up or LAN. Select the first
option as shown here for a dial-up connection Click on Next.

- On this screen you select
from the list of installed modems. Select the appropriate modem from
your list of installed modems here. Click on Next to continue.

- On this screen you select
whether you are creating a new dialler or using an existing dialler.
Create a new dial-up connection (if none exists or the previous one
is corrupted) Use an existing dial-up connection (if one exists).
Click on Next.

- On this screen you enter the
Area Code 0845 telephone number 0501329 and country
code for the dialler. Select the country code here, for the UK this
is as shown. Make sure a tick is in Dial using area code and country
code otherwise the modem may not dial the area code... Click on
Next.

- On this screen you enter your
username and password. Click on Next.

- On this screen you can select
if you wish to change the advanced properties of the connection (software
compression, tcp/ip settings etc.). Normally you would not need to
change these so select No as shown. Click on Next.

- On this screen you give the
connection the name INET with which to identify it. Enter the
connection name here. Click on Next.
|
|
- You have now finished creating
a dial-up connection under windows 98. Click on Finish to complete
the procedure.
