| Remote Access is a control panel built into Mac OS 9. It is highly recommended you use this control panel to create your connection. Go to the Apple Menu in the upper left corner of the screen. Click the mouse button and scroll down to Control Panels. You should see a list of your control panels appear. Highlight the Remote Access control panel and click the mouse button. If you don't see the Remote Access control panel, it wasn't installed when you installed MacOS 9. You will need to re-install it from your MacOS 9 installation disk. |
| · Open the Remote Access control panel if it is not already open. · Click on the Registered User button, then fill in your username and password into the fields provided. · Then enter one of the PPP modem phone numbers: 0845 0501329 · If you don't want to fill in your password each time you connect, click on Save password. · From the Remote Access menu at the top of the screen, choose Modem.... |
| · In the Connect via: pop-up menu, make sure to select the port your modem is connected to. · This is usually Modem Port for an external moden and Internal Modem for a built-in modem. · Make sure to select the correct modem script for your modem in the Modem: pop-up menu. · You can turn the modem sound on or off by selecting a Sound: button. · The dialing mode should be set to Tone, so click the appropriate Dialing: button. · Close the Modem control panel by clicking the close box in the upper left portion of the window. If asked to save your changes, do so |

| The first time you connect you will need to complete a few extra steps dealing with connection options.
From now on, all you have to do to connect is to press the Connect button at the bottom-right of the Remote Access control panel. If you selected the Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications option in the Options window, you simply need to open an application that uses the TCP/IP protocol, like Netscape or Eudora.
